Hands too Short

The change happened so quickly,

 Mother yelled from the bathroom,
Patsy, I cant find my ass to wipe it,
It's true Patsy, my hands are getting shorter.
But I wiped my ass yesterday
No Mother,  I did that for you yesterday.
What? You were not here yesterday.
Mom, may I come in as I did yesterday?
No. I'm making another attempt.
Mother stayed there for a while, still trying
Haven't found it yet she remarked
Patsy, Patsy, Patsy sobbing
Mother, you need my help, I entered the bathroom.
She was pale and drained.
I hugged her, as I whispered you have daughters and sons.
We are all happy to do things for you.
Mother, your willingness to accept the help from us would be appreciated.
Your sons' wives adore you,
Patrick would wipe your bottom in a heartbeat
Mother chuckled,
You are so right, he would have opened that door and said Mother you are draining me.
When it's time to ask for help, whether its family or friends, please ask.

Still Reflection

That was my Mother
She is still Mother
No response, no dialogue
I cry, Tears
Seldomly she blinks
My thoughts drive me insane
Nervous, Shaking constantly
In  stillness I reflect
Amidst the dark texture
Lost culture
Unaware of her surroundings
Blinded by innocence
Yet humbling
The dynamics are changing, soon it will be there no more
Memories linger, Emotions devour me
I close my hand with yours

POOP Yes!! POOP

HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU spend or stay in the bathroom? If you are the percentage that slide, glide while making a perfect pencil. Keep on sliding. Stop reading the magazine, unless that's the place you like to read so....

Let's slide and glide that poop out. My one daughter runs around the house, then she enters the bathroom and becomes very distracted while sitting on the toilet. I became aware of this after entering the bathroom after she has been in the bathroom. She stacks everything and more and she never ever puts them back.

Try Jumping Jacks,Trampoline and Squats. All three provide very good results. For the Jumping Jacks, the limit is 10-20 jumps. The Trampoline can give results in 5-15 jumps. So the Squat is the position you did as a baby. Try this for a good result; squat like a baby in the bathroom and turn the lights off. This will give good result in the slide, glide pencil.

Potty or chimmey used for squatting.

Jumping jacks.

Appetizers Try B&B Cocktail

I prefer pistachio ice cream. A percentage of restaurants do not to serve ice cream with nuts.  So for that reason, whenever I am out for dinner with friends or spouse, my cautionary method is to kindly ask for something that they seldom serve like pistachio ice cream. Giving the server the opportunity to recite the ones that are available, therefore I can pass on dessert.

Appetizers my,  let me share my safe entry into ordering, For me, I stay close to the appetizers  There are always 3-4 appetizers that are appealing. The most common ones are chicken wings, chicken tenders, coconut shrimp and peeled shrimp. These are appetizers that are staple most restaurants.

However having coffee after meal is a pleasant after dinner delight  for me this usually accompanies a B&B Cocktail. Not many restaurants serve this, so its a plus to share  the two Bs with the bar tender. The classic B&B Cocktail is named after the two main ingredients, Benedictine Liqueur and Brandy. This can be served and combined with any alcoholic cream, such as Bailey's  cream or Irish cream. B&B is served at room temperature along with coffee. It's a nice combination and makes you look rather interesting and appealing! Try it the next time you are out.

Oh Woman by Angelita Brown

Oh Woman

In my shadow

Stood a statue

Face of blackness

Beaming with virtue

Oh Woman

Curved but wide

Body of a lioness

Legs of a stallion

Oh Woman

Woman of soul and wit

Purposeful  women

Confident yet strong

Oh Woman

A warrior to your name

Voice with power

A visionary

Oh Woman

Woman of courage

Strength, power, honor

Independent woman

Oh Woman

Of  honor

Stand up and be counted

Oh Woman

Stand up for justice and peace

Back To Our Basic Excercise

I enjoy walking in the park with my daughters we sometimes stop and  watch the geese or simply follow along the stream but taking pictures is among one of my favorite thing I like to do in the park. The beauty of nature makes me linger and gaze a while longer in the park, and I am captivated by the park.

Here in Pennypack Park, we have a number of wild life. Birds of various species chirping and whistling in the branches of  trees. The constant bustle in the park of  runners, walkers, cyclist and the avid nature lovers. On my trails, I have a camera and binoculars, I am constantly reminded by my daughters to stop taking pictures...("Mom, will you come on? You are not a photographer!").

I will share my adventures of what I like to do as I walk in the park. There are several parks around the city where you will find the same wild life. See how I have fun in as I walk the trails with my favorite girls.

Eyes and Cheek Smile

Her eyes smile
Her cheeks make you gaze
Her face makes you notice her
Her humor captures you
Her laughter captivates you
Her palliative kindness devours you
Her eyes see you
She illuminates you
To see Art through her eyes is reflective

Dearest Mother

Dear Mother,

You held my hand as a child

We hopped and skipped across rocks at the pond
You taught me names of trees.
Oh Mother I remember so well, Grandpa was a Park Ranger
He too held your hand as a child.
As a child I never left your side

My dearest Mother as I lay with you

Gently clasping your frail hands in mine
                    Your hands touching my face
Smiling and gazing in your eyes knowing you are with me
To see you go from strong to weak
                    Mother this is your journey
Holding your hands as it fits tightly in mine

Well Groomed, Classy, Yet Fresh, THE PANTILINERS

THE PANTILINER

Define a well groomed women?
In my opinion a well groomed woman who is confident about her hygiene always wear pantiliner.

Why do you think  pantilners are important?
In my opinion pantiliners main purpose is to protect the crotch of your underwear.

When do you think most people wear pantiliners
I suppose most women and young girls who are exposed to pantiliners would choose to wear after heavy days of menstrual cycle.

Do you think most of the pantiliners are solely used for the purpose of light days?
Yes, most people think of them for such a purpose only.

Aside from pantiliners, are there other pads that you purchase and which do you prefer?
For myself, I purchase pads with wings, any brand on sale, and a variety. For example: heavy, super, regular maxi, ultra thin, overnight and extra long. My brands are Always and Stayfree.

Why do you purchase so many?
They all serve different purposes and they all work in the order of how the menstrual cycle behave.

When did you start seeing the need for pantiliners?
After having to hand wash my underwear several times.

Again, why do you stress the importance of pantiliners?
The idiom is "it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks".

The backstory for this piece serves to brings about changes. Elderly woman choose to use tissue paper for bladder leak. This is very common among the elderly population. There are some who respond to changes and others who choose to ignore the advice until they are faced with advanced incontinence and the bulge. Early intervention seldom goes away. So a pantiliner would eventually grow into a woman who prefers good hygiene.

Gallop to your Destiny

We are blessed to be here
Clever yet hopeful
Bursting with uncontrollable piety
In your presence constantly
Surprised by accomplishments yet humble
Adjusting modestly
Experiencing a medium in which life gives art
Life reflects as moments pass. it passes with intent to gallop
You are not alone
Motioning to use your reigns
Each eighth grader is in control of their reigns
Seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, months and years
Time was slow, now the calendar is checked constantly
Closing this  chapter, anxious to turn the page to the next.

Reflection

Saw my reflection
As I stood next to the light
It was my reflection
But clearly. I did not notice
The squinting eyes
Pear shaped nose
Lips that made faces at me
I glimpsed at the mirror
Try, perfecting a smile
No, try smiling with some teeth
What about a side pose
No, Frontal side
Wait a minute,
Slightly move a  leg forward
No, not right
The left side shows me better
No sunlight
Try a shaded room
No, shadow
Scared what people think
Find your smile
Practice the reflective look
Look and feel good

Reflective Reflection

Inspired by Olga Noble

She was, our Mother
Still Mother
Petite yet shapely
Beautiful smile
Silhouette five feet three inches
Prayerful
Confident
Jack of all trade; but,
Mastered the architect of clothing
Soulful Sundays,
She designed the styles
As they came in her dream
We were the models
Constantly sketching
She wasn't boastful
But styling always
Fashion sense current
Constantly creating an illusion
We wore the creations of her vibrant flavor
Creatively crafted by our MOTHER
Still our Mother

Whispered Words

Inspired by a client who believed that people were entering her room from the bathroom roof, and they would sleep quietly on the shelf in her closet.  Upon investigation, this was unfounded.

Not myself today
Nothing made sense
Constantly murmuring
This isn't me
Am I simply fed up?
Conversations ended abruptly
No compassion in my voice
Meaningless whispers
Silent stare at the ceiling and walls
Unkind thoughts
No secret, I am not myself
Constantly dizzy
I shake seldom
I will stay home again, tomorrow
I am tired
Tired of doing nothing
They watched while I sleep
I scream for help
Security come,  no break in
But how did security get in
I whispered, "They slept in my closet"
Hoping I am not loosing it
Could it be happening?

A Stranger

Morning care
Brushed hair
Mouth care
Side rails
Braided pony tails
Facing window
Watching quails
Stretching her hand through the rails
Motions for my hand
Her smile so grand
Hands warm from moisture
Massaging her hands gentle
Smiling as she laid upright
Comforting her head
Eyes glitter with gleam

Relieved by her spouse
Gifts, chocolate
Joy filled her eyes as they danced
Never been apart
60 years and counting
Leaning for a kiss
He pulled the chair closer
She stretched her hand towards him
Spoke less
More gestures
We held her hand
Tight squeeze and smile.
Stroking her hair gently
Her face like a glowing candle
The day has a start
The end we cannot see.

Not Alone

She laid in the dark
Blinds drawn
Lights dimmed for comfort
Cascading waterfall
Flowing from a teapot
Light classical music
Echoing throughout the room
Her daughters laid next to her
Gentle stroking her striking silver hair
Clutching at her hand
They watched as her heart beat became rapid
Long
Short
Rapid
Short
Tears
Tears flowing down their cheeks
Hands resting on her stomach
Tightly closed hands

Bargain! Soup Greens

With much delight I head straight to the discounted produce section at my favorite Shoprite at Aramingo in Philadelphia; there I  have a selection of fresh produce. This selection is fresh if used same day or otherwise prepared and freeze.

Let me explain the way it works for me. Most times, I purchase multiple packages, sometimes I need it the same day, while the rest is cleaned and stored.

My favorite is the Soup Greens they only cost ninety nine cents ($0.99) regular price $5-$6 dollars. Here are the produce:

1. onion
2-3 parsnips
1-2 carrots
1-2 pieces celery
1-2 turnips
Herbs: dill, parsley, leeks

Here are the packages; I usually purchase 3-4 packages. My first thing is to sort, clean and discard the herbs. No need to shopping for onions because I just harvested four from the Soup Greens. All my produce is then peeled, washed, and put away in small freezer bags.Soup Greens is not only used for soup and stew.

The Day I Stayed by Angelita C. Brown

Mom wasn't herself today
So I stayed a while
Engaging conversations became more difficult
Her eyes wandered, strangely around the room

Tear drops fell from my eyes
As I sang the lullaby, she sang to me
She made faces, seemingly more perplexed
Her eyes settled on the caregiver as she smiled

So I captured the moment
Paula she whispered
I proceeded to capture her elegant smile
Recognition of repetition

I am a photographer
Dad too was a photographer                         By: Angelita C Brown
Mother was an artist
Tears came streaming gently down my face

For that moment I was Paula
As  I laid next to her I whispered
Mother it's me Paula
She wrapped her arms around me as we slept.

Striped Shortbread

Mek me tell you about Striped Shortbread . This oven baked Fudge Striped Shortbread Cookies are so delicious. So certainly I want to share it with my neighbors. These cookies fly off the shelf faster than anything else.

Striped Shortbread has become my all time favorite cookie. This Striped Shortbread can be purchased at Dollar Tree. Whenever I stop in, I purchase three packs. I encourage my neighbors to also eat cookies in moderation.

This is a 13 ounce cookie for $1.00 imagine that, the package has four trays with eight in a row. For me, I take in a sandwich bag for lunch. Sometimes an extra for good measure. At home, I do the same.

My girls take three for lunch along with fruits. They stay fresh in a cookie jar. The secret to these cookies are take out the amount you will eat for snack. They are very addictive. Did I say that, I mean it. My children sometimes hide the cookies, even though the family eat very healthy they thought I was having it too often. I practice to have a sweet after each meal.
